MS Fabric and AI in Heat Treatment plant?

Microsoft Fabric is an analytics platform that supports end-to-end data workflows, including data ingestion, transformation, real-time streaming, analytics, and reporting. It provides integrated environments such as data engineering, data factories, data science, real-time intelligence, data warehouses, and databases that work with a shared compute and storage model.

I watched a presentation from Adastra and we were blown away. Everything I’ve talked about and written about AI in the heat treatment operation is in this.

I borrowed this image from the Adastra presentation with permission, hopefully they won’t kill me.

And because I have an imagination, I consider it an ideal tool to help me put together data from the furnaces and the ERP system. And because it has built-in Power BI, presentation dashboards by furnace, by order, by customer, are not and will not be a problem anymore. And because it also has Copilot AI, then everything I wrote from AI can be implemented on this platform. Quotation process,  quotation costs or quotation carbon footprint, trends and a view into the future.

This is what a combination of SCADA and ERP data would look like

And like this, for example, a basic dashboard for each furnace. The advantage of Fabric is that it works with data in real time, unlike Power BI, where data needs to be imported only once a day, from a data cube in the ERP system. This is also why you can prepare a dashboard that will display the current status with minimal delay.

And because Fabric also has the Data Activator module, you can set up all the critical points of the device and process here, which will report deviations from the standard in a timely manner. We don’t have to see SCADA, we don’t have to share the furnace screen, we can simply have an error dashboard in Power BI and we can see it anywhere and anytime.

So this is what a dashboard of the current status in the hardening room might look like, including a prediction of where and when what will happen…

Well, I don’t have a hardening room, but if I did, then it’s a really cool way to go. Who will be first?
