Where are we going – do we know?
I am constantly asked about my vision for the future of heat treatment. In a way, it is an honor, but in another way, it is just a responsibility. If I say something and someone acts on it and fails, they will hang me on the first tree.
What are the development opportunities for commercial heat treatment shops in the Czech Republic? In the EU? This can be expressed with this infographic.
I will comment on each segment in a separate blog, but we have to accept that many things will be different. Traditional supporting industries will stagnate or even decline. This is primarily a problem of the direction of car manufacturers. ICE, BEV, HEV, H2 ICE, politics and the market will decide here.
Surprisingly, Aerospace ended up in the second pillar, but only because it is not breaking any records, it is only following its stable path of moderate progress. The biggest jump will be experienced by the Defense&Military, Energy, Medical and AM technology segments. This is related not only to the direction of technological equipment, but especially certification. The general simplification is in the infographic, however, it can already be seen that all the fastest growing segments are subject to significant changes in certifications or licenses.
Existing heat treaters therefore have a choice. They can either remain at the current level, technologically, technically, but also in terms of quality management, data security or ERP systems, or they must completely restructure. Otherwise, they cannot enter these new, promising fields at all.
