After vacation III
Another pearl of my arrival is the new, the launch of the new DESIRE heat treatment plant in southwestern Bohemia. SecoWarwick is proud of it on Linkedin. Well, why not, it’s everyone’s business. But when I slowly pull out the last closings for 2025 from the Commercial Register, I see a pretty harsh picture of the world of heat treatment. In Slovakia, perhaps even a little harsher.
And another baby has been born into this world, which someone will have to take care of. I don’t know the people who founded it and I’ve never met them. I only found in the OR that both founders are also the owners of the company Farma Lažiště. I don’t want to underestimate them, but interesting times await them.
In order to effectively use such an investment and make a profit from it, I have to have it used at least 70%, i.e. 365*24*0.7 = 6,132 Nh and have a turnover of 80% of the purchase price. So I estimate 10 million CZK per year. If I consider the average cycle time of 8 hours, this means 6132/8 = 766 hardening cycles per year and a turnover of 13,054 CZK per cycle. With an average price of 2.5 €/kg, or 60 CZK/kg for hardening and one tempering, I have to have 218 kg of material in each batch. That will be 167 tons per year and 3 hardening cycles per day. So no time for tempering, God forbid at LPC. So we went through this in 1994, when we started at HT-PROGRES in Liberec. An almost unbelievable adventure these days. But I still wish them all the best
